Summer Fundraiser - Thames Bridges Trek 29 Aug 2024

Some of our Trustees don their walking shoes for a 10k trek through the heart of London on 14th September – aiming to raise £2000 to support its work with learning disabled people.

The team are taking on the Thames Bridges Trek, to be able to bring even more choice and breadth to the clubs’ activities - driven by its members each week.

Charlotte Peck, Chair of the Board of Trustees, says:

“The Squad is Wimbledon’s best kept secret - a 30-year-old charity serving the community and providing social spaces for fun and friendship for learning disabled youngsters and older people. Our club nights are fun-packed and educational, and our members enjoy socialising with their friends whilst also trying out new experiences.

“Our members help to run the clubs, vote on what we should include in our activity programmes, and are involved in decisions about The Squad's future. But, like any charity, we need funds to continue our work. And as a tiny charity serving Wimbledon and the close surrounding communities – we have limited resources...but lots of passion!”

The date is Saturday 14th September 2024, and the route takes in London’s landmark Thames Bridges. It is part of the Ultra Challenge Series, the UK’s leading set of mass participation endurance events.
